“It’s about looking forward, taking joint actions, and having the courage to make decisions and stick with them.“
Looking back
Independence and resilience have been core values throughout my life. Though not university-educated, my parents worked hard to support our family. They nurtured in me a sense of openness and an appreciation for responsibility—two essential skills that have profoundly influenced my approach to entrepreneurship and business.
After earning my degree in economics, I joined the family business during an exciting yet volatile time—the late 1990s, right before the dot-com boom. The experience was a rollercoaster, marked by rapid growth, a successful IPO, and ultimately, insolvency. While incredibly challenging, this period taught me invaluable lessons in resilience and adaptability. Experiencing failure early on made me more determined to be courageous in all aspects of my life.
Responsibility has also been a personal and professional guiding principle. I completed my PhD in economics while venturing into commercial leadership roles, balancing research and critical thinking with managing complex deals and operational challenges. I thrived as the go-to person during pivotal and high-pressure moments. It’s not just about visionary ideas but about breaking things down to basics and identifying with humans what you have that is worth focusing on.
After Accenture acquired umlaut, I decided to take a different path and start a social and educational non-profit engagement, the forêt noire Stiftung. People thought I was crazy, but I wanted to use the opportunity to drive social and ecological impact. Enabling people with disabilities to experience special moments and activities and empowering young people through education and entrepreneurship is the best way to catalyze meaningful change.
Whether as an entrepreneur or in non-profit work, I’ve always been driven by a thirst for adventure and growth through challenges. True entrepreneurial success requires courage, responsibility, and creative problem-solving—qualities I am excited to bring to Räuberleiter.
