“It’s all simple. It looks complicated, but it’s actually simple. It just needs the right perspective.”

Looking back
From a young age, I was captivated by technology. At just nine years old, I taught myself BASIC programming and immersed myself in semiconductors. This early fascination led me to take apart my first Commodore 64, eager to understand how it worked. Even then, I had a sense that digitalization would change everything.

Growing up, my family life wasn’t stable, so I had to learn crisis management early on. I got used to handling sudden challenges, which is why I get bored when things become routine and repetitive. Chaos became my comfort zone, and it’s where I thrive.

Early in my entrepreneurial career, I saw the potential for tech opportunities everywhere. I built and sold early MP3 players and ventured into developing innovative announcement systems for public transport.

All of this culminated in founding P3 (later umlaut), my third venture. Career highlights include developing critical communication infrastructure for the Ministry of the Interior, breaking into the U.S. market, and landing all major cell phone OEMs as clients.

After 25 years of focusing on technology, organization, and strategy, I want to apply everything I’ve learned from P3 and umlaut to make a difference with Räuberleiter. I find this both intellectually stimulating and fun. Plus, it’s time to give back—helping and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and technologists. Anything else would feel like a waste.
Looking forward
I’m drawn to working with grounded, unpretentious people—teams that stay focused on their vision without getting carried away. I want to work with companies in exciting technical fields that have yet to fully unlock their business model or realize their untapped potential, whether in their product, technical or operational approach. I look for opportunities where my experience can make a real impact, helping to guide them onto a more successful path and realize their full potential.

Business as usual won’t work in Germany anymore. What we’re experiencing now is the perfect storm. The Chinese market is collapsing, the US are raising tariffs, and we have been too dependent on cheap energy and exports for too long. I can see the German industry–maybe not de-industrializing—but many players might not survive if they don’t adapt or innovate fast enough. I want to be a catalyst for transformation and growth.

With our portfolio companies, I find responsibility and self-reflection key. If people don’t take ownership, it doesn’t matter how well they lead—everything will fall apart. Responsibility is the thread that ties everything else together.
